While we personally prefer SMB software because it's typically more enjoyable to use (with a better UI/UX—a story for another day), this article will cover the two popular options for mid-market businesses (HubSpot and Salesforce). It's important to mention that in this case, I'm referring to mid-market as anywhere between 20-200 seats (actual people regularly logging into and using the CRM—e.g. there are many companies that may have a team of 500, but maybe only 50 of which need to regularly use the CRM).

Where do we begin? Google Sheets is a spreadsheet tool, as an alternative to Excel, it works great! We've used it in our own business for any areas that we'd have otherwise used Excel. But for anything that an unstructured spreadsheet isn't good for, we pretty quickly moved everything over to Airtable (but more on that later).

Asana is a project management tool, we've used it in our business for about 7 years now. It's served us well for a long period of time, but one thing we would never try to do, and advise against is trying to use it as a CRM. A project management tool should be left for exactly that - managing projects, not sales outreach or anything to do with relationships.
